Getting the most out of your natural candle

We love candles. We literally can't think of one occasion where candles don't make a great gift or the perfect decor. That’s why we like to make sure they last long as long as possible.

Here are some tips to help your soy candles stand the burning test of time.

  1. "Tunnelling":
People tell us all the time that they love their new candle so much that they try to save it – only burning it for a few minutes when they use it first. Then they end up with the candle burning down the middle leaving lots of wax around the edge. This is called tunnelling and it's very annoying, not to mention wasteful. No matter what candle you buy, when you light it let it burn until the wax has melted evenly across the top forming a full pool of melted wax (right out to those sides, now!) before you blow it out.

  2. Trim the wick:
Every time you go to light your candle, trim the wick to about 1cm. This prevents the sides of the glass from blackening after it’s been burning for a few hours – which can also spread to your walls etc. Be carefull not to on’t trim it too short, or the flame will be too short to burn all the wax.

Now it’s just a case of picking your favourite fragrance.
